I Make Music

I love music and I take multiple approaches to making music. For example, I play:

  • Ableton Live and Push
  • Piano
  • Accordion
  • Trumpet
  • Baritone horn
  • and I'm learning guitar

I also compose and create music, as I did for a live modern dance performance by Step-Up, a high school outreach program associated with Ririe-Woodbury Dance Company.

I play in the concert band at West High School, as I did at Clayton Middle School.

I have participated for several years in the extraordinary programs at Spy Hop. (They received a National Arts and Humanities Youth Program Award from the White House in 2015.) I began by taking their classes in digital media, then by working as an apprentice in the audio program, which included running the recording studio during Spy Hop's weekly open-mic sessions. And now, I work as an intern in their 801 Sessions program, which is an independent, music production company that works with local bands to promote concerts, do live audio mixing, record and mix the performance, and provide finished digital recordings.

Thanks to these experiences, I am able to:

  • Compose digital music
  • Perform in live settings using both digital and analog instruments
  • Plan and promote live performances by local youth bads
  • Set up recording gear at concerts and perform live audio mixing
  • Prepare shareable audio files from their live performances
  • Collaborate with studio artists to record and mix songs that realize their visions
